Durante la battaglia elettorale il buon Ferrara alzava come suo vessillo il film Juno.
Sosteneva trattarsi di una storia che con la dovuta leggerezza narrava una metamorfosi: la notizia drammatica che un figlio non pianificato fosse in arrivo poteva ben trasformarsi in accetazione allegra con soluzioni ben lontane dalla tragedia. Il buon umore è destinato sempre a trionfare nelle anime ben fatte.
Rispondeva la Aspesi che l' argomento non era certo la sdrammatizzazione del non-aborto. La difesa della vita non interessa in alcun modo i protagonisti. La trama non conta.
Ora fa capolino una terza posizione: Ferrara ha ragione...ma anche torto.
La trama non puo' non contare. La scelta di far nascere il figlio è centrale nel film. I toni da commedia sono sia una scelta di vita che una scelta estetica. Ma tutto ciò deporrebbe a sfavore dell' opera visto che, nella realtà, storie del genere, storie di figli nati fuori dal matrimonio, sono la base di un dramma. Altrochè buon umore!

The technician, thinking she has on the examining table another knocked-up teenager planning to raise her child, makes disparaging remarks about children born into those circumstances. We are supposed to loathe this character and cheer when Juno's stepmother puts her in her place. But I found myself sympathetic to the technician. Why is it verboten to express the truth that growing up with a lonely, overwhelmed mother and a missing father is a recipe for childhood pain?..."
