A CHE PUNTO SIAMO NELLA LOTTA CONTRO IL CANCRO?
L’incidenza del cancro sulla popolazione è calata… ma probabilmente cio’ si deve a stili di vita più salubri, a cominciare dal fatto che si fuma di mena.
I tassi di sopravvivenza oltre i 5 anni dal trattamento son aumentati… ma probabilmente cio’ è dovuto a maggiore prevenzione, diagnosi precoci e test a più alta risoluzione.
Certo, alcuni cancri rari oggi si riescono a tenere sotto controllo. Certo, gli interventi operatori sono meno sfiguranti e le chemio meno invasive… ma i trattamenti sono realmente migliorati? E di quanto?
Il dubbio è legittimo.

Cancro

Vedo all’ entrata che L’ AIRC (Associazione Italiana per la Ricerca sul Cancro) va per la maggiore nelle scelte del cinque per mille.

Ma sono soldi ben investiti?

Mi sono capitati sotto gli occhi i dati della sanità USA che riguardano gli ultimi trent’ anni.

A quanto pare più si spende in cure mediche, più si muore.

Non solo.

I malati di cancro che rinunciano alle cure ritirandosi in ospizio vivono mediamente più a lungo di chi sceglie di sottoporsi ai trattamenti.

Non solo.

Sempre per il cancro, la massiccia diffusione di esami preventivi non sembra avere avuto effetti sui tassi di mortalità.

Cavolo, a questo punto mi piacerebbe saperne di più.
