Eresie ineludibili

Oggi in treno, ascoltando la rassegna stampa di Prima Pagina, ho assistito alle reazioni piccate, in primis quella del conduttore, che hanno fatto seguito alla lettura di un articolo di Stefano Zecchi.

Di solito agli studenti che manifestano si dice: "andate a studiare". Zecchi ha invece osato dire: "andate a lavorare".

La discussione è aperta. Purchè ci si pongano le domande giuste senza girarsi dall' altra parte stizziti.

Per esempio, per quanto riguarda l' istruzione:

"... have you ever noticed that colleges don’t teach a lot of job skills?...”

Per esempio, per quanto riguarda la qualità dell' istruzione:

"... the best evidence is that it is almost impossible to make a long-term difference in education, then the statistical evidence on teacher quality is bound to be highly unreliable. What appears to be teacher quality is likely to be random variation..."

add: la versione di Rojas (nei commenti):

1. There really are individual teachers who are measurably better than others.

2. Easily measured attributes (e.g., credentials, gender, age, seniority, etc) usually do not correlate with effective teaching (i.e., test score improvement).

... teaching is mainly about coaching and connecting with students...
