Per molti la religione è una sorta di spiegazione del mondo, per altri è la ricerca di un'alleanza con un amico potente. Per i primi il Dio è una sorta di creatore, per i secondi una sorta di "mio cuggino". Nel primo caso la religione è un fenomeno in declino (secolarizzazione), nel secondo è più viva che mai.
