MERCIFICAZIONE

Un "a parte" sulla nota posizione di Sandel, quella per cui attribuire un valore pecuniario a certe azioni rischia di corromperle. Non è affatto pacifica. Recentemente mi sono imbattuto nell'articolo di Stephen Clowney: "Does Commodification Corrupt? Lessons from Paintings and Prostitutes". Va in tutt'altra direzione. L'autore chiede a prostitute e periti d'arte cosa pensino di sesso e arte, ovvero delle cose che loro monetizzano tutti i giorni sul mercato. Dei venti attribuzionisti intervistati nello questo studio, nessuno ha riferito che il lavoro ha in alcun modo impedito loro di godere delle gioie emotive, spirituali ed estetiche procurate dai capolavori artistici. Al contrario, la maggior parte dei periti ha affermato che l'attribuzione di valori monetari alle opere d'arte ha effettivamente aumentato la loro ammirazione per dipinti, fotografie, sculture e altri lavori creativi. Spesso il mercato è un potente agente educativo che trasforma l'apatia in comprensione e fa nascere nuove intuizioni.

E il sesso? Si è sempre sostenuto che il denaro degradi l'intimità e fomenti la desacralizzazione del corpo. Clowney si concentra sulla prostituzione maschile perchè ritiene quel mercato più libero. Gli intervistati hanno insistito sul fatto che vendere l' intimità fisica non ha affatto corrotto la loro "comprensione" del sesso. Mentre il lavoro li lasciava esausti, gli intervistati dicevano comunque di riuscire a sperimentare le gioie del sesso e dell'amore. In effetti, la maggior parte delle escort maschili ha confidato che il loro lavoro sul mercato ha avuto un impatto positivo sulla loro vita privata: il sesso commerciale ha affinato le loro capacità sessuali, aumentato la loro fiducia e migliorando la loro comprensione del partner.

INDIGNATI A 2 EURO LA SCENATA

Il mercato è ovunque, ogni cosa ha un prezzo. Lo spiega bene il concetto di cui al link.

Il treno che ti porta al lavoro ritarda di 20 minuti e tu ti incazzi. Quanto faresti pagare per aggiungere 20 minuti al tragitto che ti porta allavoro? E' inutile che ti incazzi con la hostess, che sconto ti basta per viaggiare in aereo separato da tua moglie? Qualcuno ti passa davanti in fila al supemercato e tu dai in escandescenze, ma quanto pagheresti per fare 2 minuti in meno di coda? Il latte in frigo va a male e tu diventi una bestia. Ma quanto costa un litro di latte fresco? Devi cambiare l'olio dell'auto e la cosa ti scoccia tremendamente, ma quanto dài al benzinaio che lo fa per te? Le continue pubblicità ti pesano e sei un lamento continuo? Bene, quanto costa la versione premium? La lettura del giornale ti indigna e non ti trattieni? Quanto pagheresti per evitare di essere oltraggiato da simili notizie?

Non posso dirvi quante volte ho visto persone fare scenate epiche per problemi che,visti nella logica WTP, non superavano i 2 euro. Ma dirò di più, sono convinto che molti pagherebbero pur di esibire laloro indignazione almeno una volta al giorno.

Certo, chi ragionare in termini di WTP va incontro alla solita lamentela: monetizzare tutto è disumano, monetizzare tutto crea conflitto. Personalmente non posso fare a meno di notare una vasta gamma di "rabbie", una volta monetizzate, diventano così ridicole da essere più facili da superare.

Vi vengono in mente esempi che la negano?
Il libro ne tratta solo alcuni, tipo:
1. Prostituzione, utero in affitto… implicherebbero sfruttamento della persona.
2. Pornografia, violenza… implicherebbero una corruzione caratteriale.
3. Mercato degli organi umani (esempio reni)… implicherebbe un simbolismo pericoloso.
4. Bagarinaggio… implicherebbe diseguaglianze.
Risposte: 1: riguarda il “come si mercanteggia” più che il “cosa si mercanteggia”; 2: non sono critiche al mercato ma ad altro; 3: è un problema culturale più che di mercato; 4: per realizzare l’egalitarismo ci sono mezzi più efficienti delle proibizioni.
