Diciamolo: internet è finita male, almeno rispetto ai sogni degli anni novanta.
Da allora la massa è approdata nel web. Era poco esperta da un punto di vista tecnico e più interessata a consumare passivamente l'intrattenimento che a contribuire in modo creativo. Gestiva in modo poco maturo i contenuti non censurati ed era più disposta a rinunciare alla propria autonomia in cambio di comodità.
I blog simboleggiano la "vecchia visione" di Internet mentre Facebook incarna la nuova e vincente.
Quando leggi i blog, fai le tue scelte su chi seguire. Con Facebook, ti affidi all’algoritmo di un’ intelligenza artificiale.
Chi tiene un blog mette dentro ogni post un lavoro genuino. Su Facebook, molti post sono solo "condivisioni" occasionali dove la persona che l aopera non aggiunge nulla.
I blogger creavano "metadati". Inserivano i loro post in categorie aggiungendo tag con parole chiave. Ciò consentiva ai lettori di filtrare ciò che leggevano e di recuperare un senso evolutivo. Su Facebook, l'intelligenza artificiale cerca di dedurre i nostri interessi dal nostro comportamento. Non selezioniamo gli argomenti da soli ma veniamo sospinti ora da una parte, ora dall’altra.

L'ambiente più popolare per leggere e scrivere blog è il personal computer, che consente al lettore di pensare e dà a chi scrive uno strumento per comporre e modificare diversi paragrafi. L'ambiente consueto per la lettura e la pubblicazione su Facebook è lo smartphone, che favorisce lo scorrimento rapido di foro e parole sporadiche.

Sul web vige l’egalitarismo spinto: uno vale uno. Sarà perché nel virtuale il tempo è abolito, i protagonisti non hanno né passato, né curriculum. Il commento di chi ha dedicato una vita all’argomento del giorno vale quanto quello di chi ci pensa per la prima volta e improvvisa impudicamente uno slogan mal riuscito sotto stretta dettatura della pancia. A volte, nel disperato tentativo di marcare le distanze, la competenza scade in un’ imprevista isteria condita da inatteso turpiloquio passando così dalla parte del torto (che fosse stata dalla parte della ragione, non se n’era mai accorto nessuno). E’ l’inizio della fine. Per noi profani questo penoso arrancare è consolante, inutile negarlo. Eh sì, è proprio così perché quando rimiri gli esperti all’opera nel loro elemento naturale – università, convegni, conferenze, monologhi, TED talk… - oltre che per dottrina ti senti inadeguato anche per civiltà, brillantezza, self control e facilità relazionale. Tuttavia, quando il contesto cambia e gli sciagurati hanno l’ardire di avventurarsi nella fogna della rete capita sempre più spesso di vederli annaspare nelle sabbie mobili; qui l’ammirata dottrina dell’ Illustrissimo resta fantasmatica mentre l’insospettabile bestia che è in lui latra intimidendo anche lo psicopatico di passaggio.

Senza la capacità di dividere i problemi e affrontarli separatamente ci si ritrova di continuo nella palude di fronte a un super-mega-blob dall'aspetto inquietante.

È chiaro che di fronte a un simile "mostro" ognuno può dire quello che gli pare, per questo la lacuna di cui sopra più che un errore a volte mi sembra una strategia.

A volte in rete discuti con strani soggetti e ti accrgi quanto sia diffusa una spaventosa “mentalità legalistica”. E' più un riflesso pavloviano che una mentalità, provo a spiegarmi meglio: qualsiasi questione venga sollevata la loro prima mossa (ma anche la seconda) consiste semplicemente nel “descrivere cosa dice la legge” in merito. Spesso nemmeno tentano di difenderne la saggezza, la cosa non sembra loro di rilievo, semplicemente te la espongono quasi fossi capitato lì perché bisognoso di una consulenza giuridica. E’ come se ti esortassero ad uniformarti o a cambiarla. Insomma, se vuoi aver ragione devi cambiare un certo decreto legge che loro hanno scovato. Per loro affrontare un problema qualsiasi (logico, etico, scientifico...) si riduce a capire quali siano gli ordini legittimi a cui uniformarsi, l'unica autorità a cui danno credito è quella politica così come interpretata dalla magistratura. Ho come l'impressione che con costoro la scuola di stato in questo senso abbia funzionato fin troppo bene.
