SUPER-INTELLIGENZE A CONFRONTO

Mi immagino domani la presenza di una macchina benevola e super intelligente. Di certo sarà in grado di prevedere al meglio il futuro, in questo caso è più che ragionevole per la comunità umana collocare quella macchina in un ministero e uniformarsi ai suoi consigli. Governati da lei saremo tutti più ricchi e felici. Intraprendere una strada alternativa sarebbe un’impresa disperata.

Ma pensiamo meglio da cosa dipende il futuro. innanzitutto dalle leggi fisiche, e fin qui quanto detto prima continua a valere. Dipende però anche dall’azione degli altri soggetti, e finché la mente che guida queste azioni è debole, possiamo ancora restare fermi sulle conclusioni precedenti.

Cosa succede invece se l’azione degli altri soggetti è guidata da altre super-intelligenze? Ogni mente cercherà di anticipare l’azione guidata dalle altre menti e in questo gioco di specchi la complessità esploderà rendendo la qualità delle previsioni non molto migliore di quella disponibile in un mondo come il nostro dove simili super-intelligenze non esistono ancora. In questo caso non ha più senso che gli uomini si uniformino a certi consigli piuttosto che ad altri. Ognuno faccia come crede!

Purtroppo, una super-intelligenza opera sempre in un mondo super-complesso cosicché i servigi previsionali che rende potrebbero anche essere inferiori di quelli resi oggi dalle nostre normalissime intelligenze.

La frontiera tecnologica si è spostata parecchio cosicché c’è oggi chi considera l’opposizione tecnologica BLOCKCHAIN vs BIG DATA come una riproposizione in forme diverse della vecchia e gloriosa opposizione CAPITALISMO vs SOCIALISMO.

E poi magari si prolunga oltre l'analogia prevedendo il collasso prossimo venturo di Google, Facebook, e tutti gli altri BIG DATA secondo dinamiche a noi ben note. In altri termini, cio’ che per molti è l’alba di una nuova era sarebbe in realtà la fine del "vecchio".

Motivo di tanto pessimismo per l'esistente? Lo stesso che ha fatto collassare il buon vecchio socialismo: troppa concentrazione. Innanzitutto La "concentrazione" amplifica i problemi di sicurezza (mai tenere tutte le uova in un paniere). Ma c'è di più: chi non fa pagare cio’ che produce non puo’ dire di avere “clienti”, e chi non ha clienti non ha prezzi di mercato su cui fondare le sue decisioni. Chi non si affida ai prezzi di mercato perde presto la bussola dei bisogni e cessa di inseguirli (o di inventarseli, come direbbe chi crede nei “bisogni indotti”).

Quanto puo' esserci di vero in una simile ipotesi? Chiudo gli occhi e cerco di fare un po' d'introspezione. In effetti bazzico Facebook da 10 anni e noto l’assenza di progressi significativi della piattaforma. Al di là di qualche superflua coreografia ornamentale, qui si vive in una specie di URSS stagnante. Nell'economia tradizionale ci sono settori maturi, penso all'auto, che migliorano di continuo il loro prodotto secondo ritmi sconosciuti alle imprese iper-tecnologiche come Facebook.

Ed ecco allora farsi un po' più chiara la via attraverso cui la “rivoluzione” BLOCKCHAIN potrebbe affossare il "muro" dei BIG DATA favorendo l’avvento di micro pagamenti, privacy e sicurezza. Ovvero, il buon vecchio sistema segnaletico dei prezzi. L'unico a dirci cosa desideri veramente il consumatore. E' stato così con la vecchia opposizione, sarà così anche con la nuova?

Fusaro forse ha ragione: Marx torna. Anche se in modo inatteso, probabilmente anche da lui.

Nella Silicon Valley hanno le idee abbastanza chiare sul nostro futuro: informatica e biologia stanno convincendo molti ricercatori che tu sei semplicemente il prodotto di un algoritmo. La macchina, molto presto, ti conoscerà meglio di quanto tu conosca te stesso. Sceglierà chi dovrai sposare, come ti dovrai curare ma soprattutto ti sostituirà sul lavoro. Tu, fattene una ragione, non sei più “impiegabile” poiché risulti intellettualmente inferiore all’algoritmo dell’intelligenza artificiale destinato a rimpiazzarti. Non servirai più a nulla. Ma non preoccuparti, potrai comunque ritirarti con una ragguardevole rendita con cui manterrai/migliorerai il tuo standard di vita. Sei contento? Per ogni persona obsoleta come te il governo predisporrà una somma fissa garantita. Pensa a godertela. Vivremo tempi nuovi, la ricchezza non sarà più un problema, la politica si occuperà solo di redistribuire e assicurare.

Quello che per molti è distopia, presso Google o Apple è utopia. Se Fusaro invoca un Marx equalizzatore, anche Yuval Harari, Nick Bostrom, Larry Page, Sergey Brin, Tim Urban e Elon Musk in fondo lo vedono in fondo alla loro traettoria.
In altri termini, proprio nel bel mezzo del capitalismo più avanzato si sta facendo avanti un neo-marxismo con parecchie frecce al suo arco. Ricordiamoci che il marxismo originale non era affatto avverso alla tecnologia, anzi, ha sempre “creduto” nella rivoluzione industriale, ha sempre pensato che il problema non fosse più produrre con risorse scarse ma redistribuire l’abbondanza già disponibile. Ogni volta che ci percepiamo come alla fine di un’ epoca, al termine della storia della fatica, le idee marxiste tornano a circolare. Ieri la fine del mondo era la rivoluzione industriale, oggi la rivoluzione dell’intelligenza artificiale.
