Sono lieto di comunicare che esiste una cura psicologica alla percezione anomala del rischio, si chiama "terapia dell'esposizione".

La terapia implica un'esposizione deliberata e programmata a uno stimolo temuto fino a che l'intensità dell'angoscia non si allenta. E' la cura migliore ai problemi di ansia e panico.

Hai paura dei cani? Chiuditi in una stanza con i cani. Hai paura dell'ascensore? Vai su e giù ripetutamente con l'ascensore. Sei sempre in apprensione per il tuo bambino? Invitalo a fare il giro dell'isolato da solo. Hai paura della violenza? Guarda film violenti. Tuo figlio ha paura dell'acqua? Sbattilo in acqua dal pattino al largo. Temi la criminalità? Passeggia di notte nelle zone più malfamate della tua città. Hai pregiudizi sugli zingari? Attraversa il loro campo fermandoti a parlare con loro...

Che sia il modo più efficace per curare le proprie paure sembra assodato. Il problema è un altro: perché gli psicoterapeuti la prescrivono così raramente?

E' brutto non essere desiderati. Neanche la pietà per queste persone è un rimedio poiché non fa che affermare la loro emarginazione.

Lo status dell'emarginato è infimo, ma bisogna distinguere tra due tipi di status: quello che dipende dal potere e quello che dipende dal prestigio. Il primo è visto male, il secondo è addirittura incoraggiato.

Chi è "ultimo" nel potere (per esempio chi è licenziato dalla multinazionale) riceve la solidarietà di tutti ma chi è "ultimo" nel prestigio è davvero in una condizione miserrima. E' giusto mostrare per questa gente empatia e comprenzione.

POPULISMO E STATUS SOCIALE

Dice: nel momento in cui il populista assurge al potere, entra a far parte dell'élite perdendo legittimità.

No. Non funziona così.

Lo status ha due coniugazioni: dominanza e prestigio. La prima è vista come illecita, la seconda come lodevole. Se conti perché sei forte sei una minaccia sociale, se conti per la tua saggezza sei una risorsa sociale.

Chi entra nella stanza del potere aumenta il suo status legato alla dominanza ma non è detto che modifichi il suo prestigio, anzi molto spesso lo deteriora.

BUROCRAZIA

Strepitosa descrizione della burocrazia indiana (e universale). Alcuni passaggi.

... «Ha il permesso per gli alcolici?». Gli mostrai i fogli protocollo timbrati e firmati. «Ha il permesso di trasporto?». Mai sentito, finora, di questo permesso. «Deve avere un permesso di trasporto». Tra questi cumuli e colonne e bastioni di carta erano sparsi impiegati dall’aria dimessa, uomini e donne, con lineamenti dolci, indianamente pallidi, le spalle arcuate; la carta era per loro una perfetta copertura mimetica. Un uomo anziano, con gli occhiali, sedeva a un tavolo d’angolo, il viso un po’ gonfio e dispeptico. Il tremulo governo di quella stanza cartacea gli apparteneva; se fosse scomparso gli impiegati sarebbero stati probabilmente travolti... riempiva moduli con una di quelle matite spuntate, indelebili e illeggibili usate dagli uffici governativi di tutto l’ex Impero, in vista non tanto di ciò che si scrive quanto delle copie necessarie...

Per fare un bel film bisogna innanzitutto fare un film, Il che significa ideare: situazioni e drammi che possono capitare a tutti, personaggi credibili, dialoghi non banali, spiegazioni al minimo, e benvenute le svolte o le sorprese prima della fine.

Memorabili le pagine dedicate al “ribelle” (terzomondista): nuoce a se stesso, alla sua gente e ai vicini. Praticamente la vivida incarnazione dello “stupido” a suo tempo immortalato dal Prof. Cipolla.

Purtroppo, la pace è priva del romanticismo della guerra, così come il conformista manca del romanticismo del ribelle. A pagare è l'umanità.

Si riferisce a Murray Gell-Mann, il fisico vincitore del premio Nobel. Il luminare osservava che, anche se i giornali risultavano regolarmente imprecisi quando trattavano la sua area di competenza (la fisica), si fidava comunque di loro per tutto il resto.

I corridoi e i dormitori dei licei sono la nuova frontiera dell’orrore. Basta puntare la videocamera sulla nuca di uno studente che li percorre ciondolando e siamo sicuri che qualcosa di orribile sta per succedere.
